Dear All,
We have seen incredible performances on the field through 2019.
The 1st X1 romped the division, the 2nd X1 ran very close with results conspiring against us on the final Saturday and the 3rd X1 also enjoyed some great victories.
Our Sunday sides were full of runs and wickets, and all season long we were blessed with great availability. Juniors performed brilliantly under the new stewardship of Head Coach: Andrew Niblett, with many playing huge parts in Saturday League cricket; we have had two half centuries from Louis Dean and a ‘Michelle Pfeiffer’ from Michael Longridge. Ethan Lacey, Matt Oxley (Colt of the Year), Ollie Rowe, Ella Phillips along with Louis all played their part in the 1st X1 success, and Charley Phillips opened the bowling for the 2nd X1 through the season. As you can see our future is bright!
We have also had some stellar displays by some of the seniors, and at the risk of repeating detail you will see their amazing results under the individual team reports. My personal thanks go to many unsung heroes: Stirk Pownall & James Travers for the production of such brilliant pitches, Phil & Chrissy Wilding for their steadfast stewardship, Sharon Fleming for organising so many social events (definitely a ‘tour de force’), Bill Travers for putting together a cracking fixture list, and to Tim Murphy who has taken up the reins of the pavilion build with such control and energy, we are definitely on track!
Finally, Nick & Tracy Ray have decided to step down from their lead roles within the junior section. It has been very much a ’labour of love’ for both and their marathon commitment has seen not only successes on the pitch, leading juniors in to the adult cricketers that we so desperately need, but can be seen by the ‘state of the art’ nets for which they worked so tirelessly and we enjoy so much. Thank you both so very much.
