In front of a decent early season crowd, Sonning beat a strong Emmbrook & Bearwood side by 4 wickets to progress to the next round of the National Village Cup. After winning the toss and choosing to bat Emmbrook were quickly one wicket down with Ollie Rowe picking up the first of his four wickets. Emmbrook lost wickets at regular intervals thanks to excellent bowling and catching from the Sonning side but managed to post a competitive total thanks to an unbeaten 50 from their number 8 batsman. Ollie Rowe finished with 4-32 and Gus Cloete with 3-18 with excellent support from the other bowlers.
Sonning started slowly against a good opening attack from Emmbrook but started to build towards the total, with an excellent partnership between Toby Allday and Indy Sahota taking us close. A few quick wickets were lost towards the end but Jamie Boshier saw us home with a four through the covers off his second ball. Toby Allday finishing with a match winning 65*.
In the next round we face Pinkneys Green at home on 8th May, we hope to see another good crowd at King Georges Field to support us again.
