Match Report

Sonning ran out eight-wicket winners at home to Mortimer West End to maintain their flying form.

Mortimer were restricted to 99-8 off their rain reduced 32 overs, with Sonning's new signing Waseem Ayub taking 4-6 in his five overs after Ghulam Abbas (3-37) and Harvey Grout (1-38) had got the ball rolling.

Powerhouse Mark Richards hit his usual six off the first ball before holing out for 24.

But Naz Hussain (33no) and JJ Harris (29no) saw Sonning home in style on 102-2.

This week Sonning travel to reigning champions Purley in the match of the day and skipper Gary Phillips knows it will be a hard-fought game between the two rivals.

Phillips said: "Purley haven't played at all yet. That might mean they are on fire this Saturday or they could come out cold. Hopefully from our point of view it will be the latter."
