Sonning lift championship
SONNING were crowned Berkshire League champions last weekend after a convincing six-wicket win against West Ilsley.
Second-placed Ibis Maple-durham had an outside chance to deny Sonning the Premier Division title and picked up 25 points when Cavaliers cancelled their scheduled game last weekend.
However, Sonning ensured there were no slip-ups as they eased to a comfortable victory against Ilsley to secure their third title in four years.
Anwar Ul-Haq was the hero for Sonning as he took 6-28 to help skittle Ilsley out for just 111.
Latif Gohar then guided Sonning to victory and the championship with an unbeaten 50 as they secured the win on 112-4.
