Match Report
A scorching day on the Sunday with a few frayed tempers as a likely result of the high temperatures of 32deg C but with Sonning off to a healthy start with Dave M & Shami putting on a healthy partnership we were 81 for 1 after 14 overs, then things started to change at 95 for 5 after 18 things didn't look quite so rosy. The middle order hung on in there best it could but succumbed but not without a few highlights with Kabir providing a solid 27 and all out for 160, we really needed 200+ on what was a very fast outfield as the slightest of touches often finding the boundary rope as the outfield was lightning quick. After Tea, it was always going to be a big ask with Sonning now ball in hand but some solid bowling from Kallun taking 3 for 23 and wickets from Kieran, Kabir & Syed made a fist of it but too few runs initially was always going to make things awkward for Sonning. A must mention was a good spell from Ethan taking a wicket from so superb bowling for 27 runs with a great line and length and much talked about by the opposition that faced him which bodes well for later in the season. As a footnote, our regular runs/wicket taker Jameel, wasn't quite his usual self suffering with gout no less, so a hopeful detox this week and a return to form for the next match.
