Yateley put the brakes on Sonning's surge at the top after holding them to a draw.
Sonning made a solid start as Mark Richards and their new signing from Reading, Ollie Clayson, put on 76 for the first wicket.
Clayson was out for 33 while Richards recorded 51 before Aussie allrounder Richard Saniga and Stu Lipo started to make some inroads into the batting order.
After a mini-collapse, it was left to Waseem Ayub (35) and Ghulam Abbas (40) to fire the final total to 206.
In reply,Yateley cruised to 40-1 in the first 10 overs but they then found runs harder to come by. Wickets started to tumble at regular intervals as Harvey Grout finished with best figures of 5-51.
Sonning looked set for victory as they had Yateley 150-9 when skipper Stephen Davies came to the crease.
But Davies slogged a quickfire 30 in the last four overs and dropping him in the slips cost Sonning outright victory.
